This is the first blog i'm writing, its just a small introduction to who I am. Well as you've probably already guessed my name is JD Robinson, i'm an English Singer/Songwriter hopping to catch a break and see where it takes me.
My main influences are Frank Turner, The Gaslight Anthem, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan and Mike Skinner & The Street. A lot of people think that last one isn't very in keeping with the other four, however if you listen to what is actually being said on a Streets record, on a lot of them you'll find some very poignant material take for example this quote from the song 'Everything is Borrowed' off of the fourth album of the same name.
"I came to this world with nothing,
And i leave with nothing but love,
Everything else is just borrowed."
I'm a big believer in stripped back production and prefer just an acoustic guitar and vocal, perhaps in the future i'd like to incorporate a violin on some tracks but thats way in the future.....hopefully.
As you can probably tell from my heroes listed above I place great importance on the lyrics of my song, unfortunately I am non of the above but i like to think if i could write something half as good as the things these guys have written then i'd be pretty happy indeed.
As of yet i don't have any recordings done, well non of good quality, mostly demo tracks at the moment, and as I said already I am no Bruce Springsteen i'm definitely not ready to release a Nebraska esc. album. Hopefully getting some high quality recordings done over the holiday period, so hope to be able to post some very soon.
If you've read this far it means a lot and I hope you'll continue this patience until I can get some tracks posted and hopefully beyond.
